What are we looking forward to in 2019?
As we reflect on the end of another year, we are amazed by the continued rapid transformation of our industry and the emergence of a new generation of worksite wellness programs. In particular, we are excited by the growing opportunities that exist in the areas of psychological and emotional wellbeing. After being overlooked by wellness programs for many years, the psychological dimension of wellness is now becoming the central focus for employers pursuing the dual-aim of enhanced employee wellbeing and improved performance. Research supports this transition, showing that much of what detracts from health and performance at work is induced by stress and mediated by psychological skills that can be learned like resilience and grit.
In line with this trend in 2018 we formed a new partnership with MeQuilibrium, the world’s leading data-driven resilience solution, and we expanded our partnership with ComPsych, the world’s largest Employee Assistance Program provider.
In 2019, we’ll see more employers integrating these powerful solutions into a deeper effort to design workplace conditions that naturally support psychological health. This is a win-win proposition for organizations and their people – what wellness was always supposed to be – and something special for wellness leaders to look forward to in the New Year.
